The Agricultural Society held its annual Roast Beef Dinner and Silent Auction on Wednesday, April 25. This is one of the main fundraising events for the Severn Bridge Fall Fair and we were happy to see that plenty of people came out to support us. Everyone enjoyed the meal and had a good time bidding on items in the Silent Auction. There were over fifty items up for auction, all donated by local businesses and individuals — things for the house, home-made baked treats, and cards/certificates for various goods and services. Also, the lucky winner of our draw was Judy Hutchinson. The S.B.A.S. would like to thank all the people who came out to dine at the Hall on Wednesday, the businesses who gave us items for the auction, and all the volunteers who worked hard to prepare and serve the meal. It's great to see so much support from the community and all the proceeds will go toward this year's Fall Fair.
At the dinner, guests had the chance to vote for a drawing to be featured on the cover of this year's Fair Book. There were numerous submissions from local Grade 7 & 8 students and these were narrowed down to the five drawings that were displayed on Wednesday evening. Although it was close, the winner was Boyd Aldom of K.P. Manson Public School. We would like to congratulate Boyd on his winning entry, which everyone will be able to see when it appears next month on the 2018 Fair Book.
